Nick Waring

Director of Finance and Resources, Women for Women International - UK

Nick is a Chartered Accountant, and qualified in 1995 whilst working as an auditor with KPMG. After a couple of years working in the UK National Health Service, Nick moved to Kenya and was Finance Director of a rural hospital for four years. Returning to the UK in 2004, Nick has held a number of senior management posts in the not-for-profit sector, from Head of Finance at Christian Aid, to Director of Finance & Information Services at the RAF Benevolent Fund. He has also worked with the Refugee Council, and was Director of Finance & Resources for the Lumos Foundation, J.K. Rowling’s charity focused on the deinstitutionalisation of children globally, during a period of significant growth for the charity. Whilst at Lumos, Nick set up Lumos Foundation USA Inc, a 501(c)(3) entity. Most recently Nick worked with the Prince’s Trust in establishing its new international charity.

Nick is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales, and also holds a Masters degree in NGO Management from CASs Business School, City University, London. He is a trustee of two charities, an international mission organisation and a grass-roots local youth club.

Nick is married with four children – three teenage boys and a 6-year-old girl, and enjoys watching football and walking his dog. Nick is passionate about human rights, as reflected in his career to date, and is really excited about joining Women for Women International.
