Women for Women International are calling on the international community to ensure that Afghan women participate as equals at the upcoming Bonn Conference where the future of their country will be discussed. Founder of Run for Congo Women, Lisa Shannon joined the UK supporters and runners for Run for Congo Women - Adidas Women's 5k Challenge 2011. Women for Women International UK’s first ever 5k event in Hyde Park was the first anniversary of Run for Congo Women in the UK, with our special guest Lisa Shannon who took part in the run. -

Ten women are climbing to Everest Base Camp to support Women for Women International From 5th – 20th October ten supporters of Women for Women will join Everest summiteer Susan Harper Todd in an all-women trek to Everest Base Camp, with the aim of raising £100,000 to help women in war-torn areas to rebuild their lives and to raise awareness of the importance of women for development and ending poverty. -

On 15th October, Christie’s will auction each artist’s exclusively commissioned artwork for the launch of Artists for Women for Women International, in their Post War and Contemporary Day Sale during Frieze Art Fair. -

Ten ordinary women are joining Everest Summiteer Sue Harper Todd in an all women group climbing to Everest Base Camp raising £100,000 to help women in war-torn areas to rebuild their lives in celebration of 100th year anniversary of Women’s International Day. -

Landmark Women’s Opportunity Centre opens for women rebuilding their lives after the trauma of the Kosovan War. The Centre will be a safe, friendly haven for 1500 women a year, at the heart of their community. It will be filled with women learning new vocational and business skills and meeting to share experiences and develop friendships. -

With Annie Lennox being given a Making a Difference Award , Sophie Ellis-Bextor performing and Pamela Stephenson as a MC, Women for Women International UK’s Gala was bound to be a success. £828,870 was raised which will help traumatised women in war-torn areas. -

Women are set to make history on the 100 anniversary of International Women's Day by joining together on bridges across the world and calling for urgent action in Afghanistan; described as 'one of the worst countries in the world to be a woman.' This follows the success of the first Join Me on the Bridge campaign, launched be Women for Women International on March 8, 2010. -

A new research report by Women for Women International UK "Gender, Conflict and the Development Goals" finds that 'violence against women is the biggest threat to peace' and that countries in conflict are falling strikingly short on meeting UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) and UN (SCR) 1325 development and security goals. The report is being launched on the UN International Stop Violence Against Women Day on 25 November by our Programme Director for Nigeria, Ngozi Eze, at our Nigeria: Stronger Women, Stronger Nations event being held at Amnesty International in London. -
