Your contribution to lasting change
Over the past year Women for Women International UK Student Societies have been raising awareness and funds for the work we do serving women in post-conflict countries. From huge festivals to intimate film screenings, mitten knitting to charity cocktails, our student societies are great at being creative! Joining a Women for Women Student Society is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and experience in a field you feel passionate about, whilst contributing to lasting change for women survivors of war.
You never know what you could get involved in - societies taken part and lead a range of activities, from our global Join Me on the Bridge campaign, to hosting a talk by our founder Zainab Salbi. It’s your Women for Women society - you take the lead!
Ellie Ross, Founder and President of Durham Women for Women Society:
“We’ve hosted a film night, made plans to create a photography exhibition detailing what Women for Women does, organised a fundraising quiz night, ran 10 miles dressed in monkey and banana suits to fundraise and had a bake-sale. No parades or galas, but steady support, a piquing of Durham students interest, and one of the most fun terms I’ve had so far at university. The people in my society are wonderful: We are all committed to the values Women for Women holds, even the male members. Despite having coursework, essays and practicals due in pretty much every week last term, we were committed to raising awareness of this fantastic organisation. I hope to invite many more people to be involved next year, and to raise the profile of Women for Women further in the North East.”
