2012 Gala
Our UK Gala in 2012 will bring together our most valued supporters from the business and financial worlds. Cocktails, dinner, speeches and the premiere of our new organisational film will be followed by a pledge to our work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer
This is a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler (author of The Vagina Monologues) and Mollie Doyle and will be performed on 26 March 2012 with all proceeds going to Women for Women International.
Trek to Everest Camp - We did it!
In October 2011 a group of 9 supporters joined Susan Harper Todd in our first Women for Women International trek to Everest Base Camp as part of a year-long campaign to raise awareness and funds for women in war-torn countries. To date, our amazing trekkers have raised over £100,000!
Artists for Women for Women International
French film-producer, Nadja Romain and British artist, Jenny Saville, two of our most dedicated supporters, invited 22 internationally acclaimed artists to donate a work to benefit the women on our programmes, which were auctioned off during Frieze Art Fair as part of Christie’s Post War and Contemporary Day Sale and collectively raised £664,000!
Opening of the Women's Opportunity Centre
On 23 June we opened the first ever Women for Women International Women's Opportunity Centre (WOC) in Pristina, Kosovo. The WOC provides support to current programme participants as well as graduates, representing our commitment to helping women survivors of war not just for a year but for a lifetime.
Banking on Women: Finance and Beyond
The joint conference by Women for Women, J-PAL and EBRD brought together leading researchers, financial institutions, and NGOs to discuss the practical implications of recent experimental research on women and economic development.
2011 Gala
The UK Gala brought together Women for Women’s most ardent and valued supporters including Annie Lennox, Cherie Lunghi, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Pamela Stephenson, and raised over £800,000.
